Why going on a pre-wedding ‘early moon’ is the best way to start your marriage!

Liam Beliveau

Ever dream of having your honeymoon early, like say, before your wedding day? You’re not alone – the pre-wedding ‘early moon’ is luxury wedding’s hottest new trend, and not just because I’m saying it – brides are saying ‘yes’ in droves.

Forget traditional post-wedding honeymoons, you need to take a break before matrimony – wedding planning can be stressful, believe me, I know!

Wedding planning can be extremely stressful and is almost like having an extra job for a couple. It is a really good idea,  a couple of months before the wedding, to take a trip for a few days, relax, and remember all the reasons why you want to get married in the first place.

“We are seeing an increase in ‘early-moons’ whereby people head off on a short break before their wedding,” reports Kate Hall, Asia Product Manager at luxury holiday operator Scott Dunn.

However, before you plan for your marital break, be sure that you’ve made sufficient headway on your wedding – or left it in someone’s capable hands ( see: luxury wedding planner )– you do not want to be issuing instructors about seating arrangements when you’re working on your tan on the other side of the globe.

Of course, there is always the pre-wedding diet to contend with, especially if you have selected a rather unforgiving dress to walk down the aisle in. If you’re going to glutton out on your pre-wedding vacation, make sure you save some gym time for those extra cupcakes.

Early-moons are still relatively new, so keep in mind that travel professionals may not bestow obligatory honeymoon perks if you tell them that you’re not actually married yet (read: first-class tickets or a suite upgrade).
